I am a lecturer in Spanish in Wales and have travelled extensively in Spain over the years. I speak Spanish fluently and have a thorough knowledge of social and cultural practices of the country. Three years ago, I visited El Puerto to call on a student of mine who is from the town. It is an area that has retained the traditional Spanish way of life and I quickly realized that this was the ideal location for the Spanish home I had been seeking for so long.

My partner and I purchased our first property in November 2000. Since then, I have come to know and love the area. I have made many good friends and look forward eagerly to the short spells we are able to spend there at present. We have since purchased two further properties which we let as holiday accommodation. This process has given me an insight into the property and rental market in the area and experience of the purchasing process. I am very much aware of the importance of having the right contacts in these situations as a way of avoiding making mistakes.

My student, who graduated with a University of Wales degree in Business, now works in a bank in Chiclana. We have realized that a growing number of British people are getting to know about the Costa de la Luz and are interested in visiting or purchasing property in the area. As it is a very Spanish area, where English is not widely spoken it can, however, be difficult to communicate and to be sure of one’s ground. With Dani’s contacts and my experience, we decided to work in partnership to help prospective buyers to avoid the pitfalls that could turn a positive experience into a nightmare.

How does it Work?

• Dani locates properties by liaising with reliable local estate agents or by dealing directly with owners who advertise their properties privately
• Our role is that of independent introducers
• You will see a range of properties but there is no pressure to purchase a particular one
• Should you find a property, we will advise you on the process, on financing your purchase and can recommend an abogado (a lawyer) if you wish
• For this service, we charge a fee of 1.5% of the purchase price
• The price asked for the property is the price you will pay
• There will be no additional premiums or agents’ fees
